In my opinion, art is both a medium and an end.
The latter consists in creating new things. This is what makes art boundless.
Of course, it is the public that decides whether an artist can be considered creative or not. As far as its function as a medium is concerned, art can be a subtle means of communication as well as a rather crude one. It transcends the usual categories such as beautiful or ugly, great or insignificant, bright or gloomy
Something similar applies to the genuine artist. He does not really fit within society and its strata, and it is rather unimportant whether he is affluent or poor.
Even if the artist were not paid one single cent, he could not but create works of art.”
